For those of you who’ve noticed that the news feed on our page has been a little light lately, it’s been because we were preparing for a pair of amazing festivals which we visited over the past two weeks.
The first was Playa Del Fuego, the Mid-Atlantic regional burn located in our home state of Delaware. For those of you who are not familiar, this is a festival in the style of Burning Man, which is held annually in Black Rock City, NV. There is no vending or commercial sponsorship at the event, but most of our members go there each year to camp, play, and set a whole lot of things on fire. For more information on this festival, feel free to visit www.playadelfuego.org. They can’t advertise us, but we can sure advertise them!
The second was WildFire, which is about as close to a fire dancing trade show as one can come. Around two hundred professional performers, instructors, propsmiths and students come together for a weekend to share ideas and techniques in a truly remarkable synthesis of the overall fire spinning community. The event is held twice annually at a boy scout camp in Connecticut, a truly beautiful space.
We had a booth outside of the main dining area overlooking the lake, just across from a tree which held the aerial silks and trapezes that the aerial instructors were using for their workshops. It was great to introduce our initial product line and get feedback from such a wide variety of very talented folk, and we were very pleased with the response we received! SnapDragon also hosted a tumbling workshop, and it was great to see a group of about 30 cartwheeling and rolling around the field. More information on this great event is available at www.wildfireretreat.com
For those of you who didn’t chat with us at WildFire, our online storefront will be going up very soon! Until then, feel free to contact us via our contact page if you’re interested in ordering any of our standard or custom props. We’re hoping to get things up and running in the next several weeks, but as with any large undertaking there may be some unforeseen delays. If that’s the case we’ll be sure to get a page up with our pricing list so that you can see our current product lineup.
That’s all for now. It’s finally warm out! Get out and play!
